In a shocking turn of events, the tranquility of Tzaneen's CBD was shattered as the local Pep Stores on Dannie Joubert Street fell victim to a daring business burglary. The 39-year-old store manager, after securely locking up the establishment the previous evening, was met with a disheartening scene when he returned the next morning.

The manager claimed that everything was in order when he closed the shop at 18:00 on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. Doors were locked, windows secured, and the alarm system activated, creating an illusion of impregnability. However, the harsh reality struck on Wednesday at 07:35 when the manager opened the store.

Upon entering, he discovered the aftermath of a meticulously executed crime. The criminals had managed to infiltrate the store room by breaking through the roof ceiling. Inside, the safes stood as the primary targets. Using what investigators suspect to be grinders, the perpetrators forcibly breached the safes, leaving behind a trail of destruction.

The loot was not trivial - approximately a thousand cellphones vanished from the secured safes, alongside a valuable computer daughter board. In addition, an undisclosed sum of cash was reported missing, adding financial strain to the inventory losses.

Tzaneen police swiftly responded to the scene, launching a thorough investigation into the business burglary. As the community grapples with the audacity of such a crime in their midst, authorities are determined to unravel the identity of the perpetrators and bring them to justice. The incident serves as a stark reminder that even the most secure establishments are not immune to the cunning tactics of those intent on breaking the law.
